As is customary during the holiday season, the Ibiza and Formentera Gastronomy Academy has announced the professionals and restaurants awarded this 2023 in its Gastronomic Awards, which are celebrating their fourth edition this year. These awards showcase the high gastronomic quality present on the island, with an increasing offer every year, as well as great restaurateurs who, despite this, strive to maintain the rich tradition and gastronomic culture of the Pityusic Islands and their excellent local products. This heritage, as pointed out by Pedro Matutes Mestre, president of the Ibiza and Formentera Gastronomy Academy, "we must maintain and take care of."GASTRONOMIC AWARDS 2023 Best Restaurant Award: Can Pujol, a true classic in the restaurant industry that has been open for over 40 years and offers a traditional Ibicenco recipe book based on sea products, with exceptional rice dishes, fish, and seafood. Culinary Innovation Award: The excellent work of young Ibicenco chef José González at the helm of Es Gerret restaurant has been rewarded, where he offers an innovative version of typical Ibicenco dishes using local products. Traditional Beach Bar Award: Ses Boques, which will celebrate 50 years in 2024, offering maritime and Mediterranean cuisine based on local products in a small and idyllic cove. Emblematic Ibiza gastronomy dish award: Bullit de Peix, which can be enjoyed in many restaurants on the island. Local Product Award: The exceptional oils with the IGP Oli d'Eivissa (Ibiza olive oils). Traditional Cuisine Award: Ca n'Alfredo restaurant, specializing in traditional cuisine. Lifetime Achievement Award: Alba Pau from Can Pau restaurant, known for Catalan and Mediterranean cuisine. International Gastronomic Prestige Award: Rafa Zafra for his work at Casa Jondal. Best Tapas Award: Es Cantonet, located in Ibiza city. Gastronomic Concept Award: Walter Sidoravicius, the new Michelin star chef in 2023 at his restaurant Omakase by Walt.
