Our story starts with a young philosopher named Antonio Escohotado, who signed the lease for the club in the mid-70s. Initially, it was called "The Workshop of Oblivion," as Escohotado believed that his nightclub offered the perfect setting to forget about worries and escape from the mundane realities of everyday life. However, soon after, Antonio stumbled upon a Greek word that perfectly encapsulated his entire concept: "AMNESIA." And thus, the present club came into existence.

In 1983, the club introduced a new resident DJ, known on the island as DJ Alfredo (Alfred Fiorito). Today, he is considered the father of the Balearic beat.
In the early 90s, Amnesia came under the ownership of its current owner, and that's when it began to experience its greatest growth. The four bars increased to the current sixteen, 16 employees grew to over 200, and the Amnesia brand gained even more international recognition.
In 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2011, Amnesia was chosen as the best club in the world by the International Dance Music Awards in Miami, one of the most recognized music awards in Miami.
Many of the world's top DJs have passed through Amnesia. Sven Väth, Chase & Status, Luciano, Carl Cox, Paul Van Dyk, Skrillex, and Diplo, to name just a few. We have also witnessed incredible live performances by Underworld, Public Enemy, Tinie Tempah, Snoop Dogg, and 50 Cent, who have also graced our stages throughout history.
Naomi Campbell, Puff Daddy, Mick Jagger, Bono, Shakira, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Elle Macpherson, Elsa Pataky, Valentino Rossi, and Leonardo DiCaprio are some of the celebrities who have also visited the club.
Amnesia is divided into two different rooms, often with completely different musical styles and line-ups, and sometimes even with different parties in each room:
Main Room: Interestingly, it is the smaller of the two rooms, with a darker atmosphere, ideal for its pure techno parties. In the Main Room, we have seen the world's best DJs, and in this room, parties like the fun and iconic Foam Party, a signature of the house, are held.
Terrace: It gets its name from the former terrace of the nightclub since Amnesia was one of the first open-air nightclubs in Ibiza. Nowadays, the room is covered, but the sunlight streams in through its large windows. It is a huge rectangular space, with significant height, allowing for visual productions like Elrow Ibiza.
Amnesia has been home to some of the longest-lasting and legendary parties on the island, such as Cocoon or Cream Ibiza, both surpassing 20 years. Currently, it hosts the aforementioned Elrow Ibiza party, one of the most successful parties on the island, as well as Together, Pyramid, or Mamacita, covering genres from techno to drum and bass and even Latin rhythms and reggaeton.
One of the many keys to the success of Amnesia Ibiza lies in the quality of its sound. The nightclub has gone from being soundproofed with egg cartons to having one of the most advanced audio systems on the market: "Xpanded Amnesia Technology." Its function is to analyze and enhance the frequencies that cause the human body to vibrate, as if you were receiving a sonic massage.
